Ben Day Dots Poster Printing

Inspired by Lichtensteins use of “ben-day dots” RZA User Jefferson experimented with the “screen covered” option which creates a dot matrix comic book effect. We also printed some other duotone images before the RZA moves to a new home! Did you know you can print a 16 page zine using just one sheet of A3 paper!

Volunteer training day

Ever wanted to learn more about the intricacies of the Riso printer? Keen to be part of the core group of people who keep the machine and open print sessions going? Want (limited) out of hours access to the machine? Ever wanted to be paid to teach others how to use the stencil press?

Enrol in our 1 day volunteer training day and get qualified to be an open print volunteer – you’ll be the one helping others in the community use the machine on an open print studio day.

The course is at The Oxford St Design Store (58 Oxford St) from 12-5pm on Sunday 17 March and it’s FREE! But we ask you commit to volunteering for at least 3 open print sessions over the next 6 months.

You’ll learn how to troubleshoot printing, how the administrative and financial side of the collective works (it’s easy, we promise!) and the house rules of the space we’re in. Once you’ve done the course you’ll be rostered on to Saturday open print studio shifts, and can use the machine before and after the sessions for your own printing (at cost price).

After you’ve volunteered for three open print studios we’d love you to keep volunteering, and also think about taking on paid roles running workshops in the space – all our paid workshops include a teaching fee for collective members who teach the courses.

Learn to stencil print this March!

Join illustrator and publisher of zines such as ‘The Time You Were In Paris’ and ‘Pubs of the Inner West’ Leigh Rigozzi for a 2-week stencil printing course at the Oxford St Design Store.

Participants will learn to use our RISO RP3700 like a photocopier, print digital files from it and develop their own printing projects.

When: 12-4pm Saturday March 9 and 12-4pm Saturday March 16

Where: 58 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst 2010

Cost: $110 per person

Our next workshop is a 2-week course at the Oxford St Design Store (58 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst). We’ll be teaching how to print multicolour zines, posters, cards etc. The workshop hours will be 12-4pm on Saturday 19th January and Saturday 26th January and will cost $110 per person. great poster printing, 2 colour on cheap cheap paper found at reverse garbage. the 2 colours and limited time in the open print workshop meant they all got laid out to dry. hundreds of hot pink uraniums filled up the oxford design store!
