With shortened hours over winter, theres still been lots of action on the machine during open print studio days.
Heres Stephanie with a two colour print on newspaper for her LoVe/HatE design course project.

All these are done by practically first time rizza users, taking advantage of the ability to use unusal paper types and sizes, and the super fine detailing of the prints/ >Not to mention the absurdly low costs!!!

this is an orange and teal, and orange and blue poster for submissions to the next blockjournal, a writing publication from ANU. they’re taking submissions until may 1 – check out their website for more information.

zine making workshop for 12-18 year olds at the MCA

sometimes the rza gets wheeled out of its st peters studio, into the back of a panel van and off to other sites for workshops and live print spectaculars. the past few days the rza has been at the MCA (museum of contemporary art) as part of their zine making workshop for 12-18 year olds.

11 teenagers took part in this 3 day workshop, designing, laying out and then printing a 2 colour A6 zine each on the rza, and experimenting with gocco printing and stamping.

First : the incredibly beautiful LITTLE FISH GALLERY 2010 calender which has been printed on the Rizzeria is complete and ready for its launch! Featuring artist friends of Little Fish, this calender is a fundraiser for the gallery which is a non-profit, do-it-yourself exhibition space.

There is a limited edition of 100 for this calender so either come to the launch to purchase one or contact littlefishgallery at gmail dot com.

WHEN: Wed 9th December, 6:30pm
WHERE: Little Fish Gallery, 22 Enmore Road, Enmore 2042.

We realise some people paid for say 3 months, and then couldnt take advantage of it as we suddenly had to mooove.!!!
Another project we request you think about:\
>We are archiving “riso” and “big fag” printed materials to be submitted together to the National Art Gallery in canberra. They are interested in purchasing a submission pack?/ perspex box?/ display case?/ of our work.. If you would like to send us two copies of any prints -etc, make sure your NAME is on the back and the date.
They have suggested they are interested in EVERYTHING printed, even if you think it is ephemeral in nature, please still consider submitting!!!
It will be dope to have yr work in the N,A,G, and to see all the output in the one place and know it will be archived carefully!!!

okapi n angel at the rizzeria

another busy day at the rizzeria. chris town was in printing artist prints he’s showing at the next china heights show  (anyone have details of the show?), then mechelle came in to make some prints for a show opening this SUNDAY 25 OCTOBER at kinokuniya gallery, galleries victoria, sydney. and then the rest of the afternoon okapi n angel started printing the little fish calendar. printing on recycled paper full of seeds, there were lots of challenges and solutions found, and the calendar is on it’s way to being launched at little fish gallery on november 18.

we’re checking in from staple manor at TINA – it’s late on saturday night and the nanoworks crew are laying out and we’re printing the 500 copies ready for distribution tomorrow.

here’s some of the things that have been printed today – zines, artists prints, posters, comic books. an amazing array of creativity and lots of people having hands on fun with stencil printing.

Another busy (WINDY) Saturday at the Rizzeria leading up to TINA. Here’s Monique with one of her series of 2 colour artists prints (there’s a set of 5 images – buy them from her at the TINA zine fair). We had the doors shut all day to keep the wind out and the paper safe inside.

Anney and Mechelle were back to print a few final images in time for TINA, and George came by to print another set of body maps for an exhbition he’s installing in Adelaide in a few weeks.
